This Appendix summarizes our extensive review of monitoring protocols gathered from peer-reviewed and gray literature, relevant webinars and conferences, discussions with managers, and the stakeholder
meeting convened under the EPA Grant to Bourgeau-Chavez and on-going discussions with the Phragmites Adaptive Management Framework Team. Literature sources are shown in the table that follows. A range of protocols from Tier 1 (least effort) to Tier 3 (highest effort) were selected and adapted from this review that we considered most practical and/or field ready to implement for this project. The selected protocols were quantified in terms of time required to complete them, experience level needed and monitoring measures achieved. They are described and compared in detail in the main body of this report.
