At rare, a 900+ acre urban land trust in Waterloo region, four experimental treatments for Phragmites control were compared over the field season of 2019. Methods tested were spading, pesticide use, goat grazing, and infrared. Some observations recorded so far include site accessibility, cost, hours required, level of habitat destruction, and immediate regrowth. Overall success will be measured in 2020 by decrease in Phragmites stem density and increase in density and diversity of non-target vegetation.
