Invasive plants such as Phragmites continue to spread in wetlands around the Laurentian Great Lakes, forming large monocultures that reduce native plant diversity. Wetland restoration efforts often employ herbicide-based management, which is effective in limiting the spread of Phragmites, but herbicides can also be toxic to native plants. This webinar explores the risks associated with glyphosate herbicide-based Phragmites management to native and endangered plants. The webinar will cover the varying glyphosate sensitivities of invasive and native plants, glyphosate persistence in treated plant material, and relative risks of different glyphosate application methods to nearby native and endangered plants.
